Who are the Friends?

The Friends are an independent charity providing financial and practical support to St Albans Cathedral.  We play a vital role in enabling the life and work of our glorious building to flourish and thrive as it has done for nearly 1000 years. Since 1999 our members have donated over £1,000,000 to support initiatives and projects that enrich and enhance the work of the Cathedral.  Many of these can been seen in the Cathedral today.

Why not Become a Friend?

Becoming a Friend of St Alban’s Cathedral is not only about restoring a beautiful old building, it’s about being part of a community and forming lasting friendships.  Membership of the Friends is open to people of all faiths and none.  If you are not already a member, we warmly invite you to join us and help to continue this important work.

Some of the benefits of becoming a Friend include:

  • New Members evening to include Deanery drinks and an exclusive tour of the Cathedral
  • Invitation to our Annual Lunch where you will learn more about the Cathedral from specialists and academics
  • Opportunity to take part in a lively programme of social events, open days, talks and visits
  • Advance application for tickets to the beautiful Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols
