Visit Us Welcome from The Dean Welcome from The Dean A warm welcome to St Albans Cathedral, home to Britain's first saint and the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain. As the Mother Church of the Diocese of St Albans, the Cathedral is a major site of pilgrimage and worship to this day, welcoming people of all ages and from different backgrounds.Prayer and people are at the heart of who we are and what we do. The heartbeat of our Cathedral and Abbey Church is the daily rhythm of prayer, of which these ancient stones speak from across the centuries. May it ever be thus. So too, by God’s grace, hundreds of people bring the answers to those prayers alive here in faithful service. It is a joy to meet people who are encountering our Cathedral, and the story of Alban and Amphibalus, for the first time. At the heart of our new 2024 vision here at the Cathedral, our commitment is to tell their story more and more, and to let that story continue to inspire our mission and ministry. The Cathedral welcomes over 500,000 visitors a year. The revealing of our story to visitors and pilgrims is at the heart of our vision, to be a beacon of discovery and inclusive welcome, prayer and reflection, open to all. This is your Cathedral - you are always welcome. We look forward to seeing you soon. The Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans
