Welcome to St Albans Cathedral! If you've reached this page of our website, we hope that means you're thinking of dropping by for a visit.
There are many unique sights to take in when you visit the Cathedral, which make a stunning setting for the events, tours and concerts taking place on a daily basis.
Normal opening times are as follows:
Monday to Sunday: 8.30am to 5.45pm
The Abbot's Kitchen
Monday to Saturday: 9.30am to 4.30pm
Sunday: 12.30pm to 4.30pm
(closes at 4.00pm from December to April)
The Cathedral Shop
Monday to Friday: 10am to 4.45pm; Saturday: 10pm to 3.45pm; Sunday: 1pm to 5pm
Monday to Friday: 10am to 2.30pm; First Saturday of each month: 10am to 1pm
(The Library is closed in August)
Occasionally services or special events mean that access for visitors has to be restricted. If you are coming from a long distance or with a group it is best to check with us first in order to avoid disappointment.
Large groups of visitors, including school children and students, should book ahead (there is a nominal charge).
