This five-week course will explore the development of Christian visual art and some of the ways it has charted and changed Christian theology. From the earliest depictions of Jesus to the contemporary work of people like the stained-glass artist Tom Denny, each session will look at a period in the history of the Church and its art. We will consider ways in which the visual art of a particular time reflects contemporary theological concerns and how wider cultural influences have found their way into the faith of the church via the artists that work for it.

This course can be taken as part of the Certificate in Theology or Certificate Plus. Full essay information will be provided once the course has started. Please note you can enjoy the course without doing an essay for SACT.

The course will be available to book until midday on the day the course starts, however we do strongly recommend booking in advance as spaces are limited.
