Here at St Albans Cathedral we have committed to try and become Carbon Net Zero by 2030. This is a highly ambitious target but one that excites us and expresses a very central commitment and priority for us to God’s creation, both now and in the years ahead. The Cathedral energy supplies are already 100% renewable and we are currently developing a full decarbonisation strategy that will encompass not only the Cathedral building itself but also our offices in Cathedral House, and all our residential and commercial properties as well. This work is being overseen by our Environmental Strategy Group and builds on the successful completion of the exciting landscaping and planting schemes and environmental work carried out in Sumpter Yard in 2022.

We already have the ‘A Rocha’ bronze award and have just applied for the Silver award. Watch this space for some exciting news soon!
