St Albans Cathedral runs a fantastic, award-winning schools’ programme. Our Learning Department offers a wide variety of activities for pupils from age 4 to 18 such as:

  • History, RE and other curricular trails and workshops
  • Art and craft workshops
  • Conferences and themed events
  • Self-guided, virtual and outreach visits

The St Albans Cathedral Education Trust has the aspiration for every child in the Diocese of St Albans to be able to visit the Cathedral and take part in our learning activities, no matter their circumstance.

The cost of living crisis and increased pressure on school budgets mean that these vital and enriching extra-curricular trips are harder to access for growing numbers of schools and their families in our area.

Through the Trust’s Opportunities Fund we aim to cover up to 100% of activity costs for those who could otherwise not afford to participate.

Every academic year we aim to support over 1000 pupils in this way. The Trust can only do this through the generosity of those who share the view that education is for all.

By donating to the Trust today you will allow young people to engage and be inspired by their visit to this magnificent, historical place of worship.

Examples of how your donation to the Education Trust can make a difference are:

  • £15: To support 1 child to experience a full day of activities
  • £75: To support a group of 5 children to experience a full day of activities
  • £450: To support a class of 30 children to experience a full day of activities
  • £1350: To support a school’s trip to the Cathedral for the day
