St Albans Cathedral Celebrates Organ Scholar’s Major Appointment We at St Albans Cathedral offer our warmest congratulations to Conor McGlone, who has served as our Cathedral Organ Scholar for the past two years and has now been appointed Assistant Director of Music at Birmingham Cathedral. During his time with us, Conor has made an outstanding contribution to the musical life of the Cathedral. Alongside his work here, he has studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, won several awards, and been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. His new role in Birmingham will begin in September, and we look forward to thanking him more fully as the year draws to a close. Dean Jo reflected on the significance of his achievements and the wider impact of our music programme, saying that we are “so very blessed by all who make music here at St Albans Cathedral and we are delighted that our Organ Scholar programme continues to develop young musicians and enable them to take a next step to leadership in our sister Cathedrals both to continue their music journey to bless and enable the worship of the Church.’" William Fox, our Director of Music, added: "Hot on the heels of several examination and competition successes, we are delighted that Conor has secured this post at Birmingham Cathedral. Conor has excelled during his two years in St Albans and we wish him every happiness as he moves on at the end of this term.” There is still an opportunity to hear Conor perform before he departs. He will lead an evening recital on 20 July at 6.30pm, featuring music by J.S. Bach and composers he inspired. Tickets are available here. We are deeply grateful for Conor’s gift of music during his time with us and wish him every success as he takes this next step in his musical journey. Manage Cookie Preferences
