Royal Visit Marks 30 Years of the St Albans Cathedral Music Trust The Duchess of Gloucester joined celebrations at St Albans Cathedral in the afternoon of Wednesday 24 June, as the St Albans Cathedral Music Trust marked 30 years of supporting musical excellence, outreach and opportunity. The special anniversary event brought together trustees, supporters, choristers and members of the wider community for a celebratory recital in the Cathedral's Lady Chapel, showcasing the talent and dedication of the Cathedral's young musicians. Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester, a longstanding supporter of music and the arts, was welcomed by Dr Lionel Wallace, Chair of the St Albans Cathedral Music Trust; the Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans; William Fox, Director of Music; and Dewi Rees, Assistant Director of Music. Guests enjoyed a programme performed by the Cathedral's choristers, including a moving speech from chorister Adam Davis reflecting on the impact of music and life within the choir. Following the recital, The Duchess met choristers and trustees before cutting a commemorative cake at a reception marking the Trust's milestone anniversary. The Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans, said: "Music lies at the heart of our worship, our welcome and our community life at St Albans Cathedral. We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness for this joyful celebration of the Music Trust's remarkable contribution over the last 30 years. The Trust's support enables generations of young people to discover their gifts, grow in confidence and share the beauty of music with thousands of people who come through our doors each year."
