Learning Adult Learning Beginners' Hebrew When | Tuesday evenings, 3 November to 15 December, 7.30 - c.9pmWhere | Online via Zoom Cost | £85 Book Here This 6-week course introduces Biblical Hebrew, one of the foundational languages of the Old Testament. It offers a structured introduction to its grammar, vocabulary, and basic syntax, while also situating the language within its historical and cultural context. Across the course, students will engage with key questions that lie at the heart of reading the Hebrew Bible: How does language shape meaning in the biblical text? What can careful attention to Hebrew grammar reveal that is less visible in translation? And how does linguistic analysis contribute to broader exegetical and theological interpretation? The course seeks to address these questions through a close engagement with Biblical Hebrew, developing essential reading skills while fostering a deeper appreciation of the linguistic and interpretative dimensions of the Old Testament. This course can be taken as part of the Certificate in Theology/Certificate Plus, if desired. Students may wish to buy a copy of Basics of Biblical Hebrew Grammar: Third Edition, but this is not necessary to participate in the course and all materials will be provided. About Dr Stefano Salemi | Stefano Salemi holds multiple doctorates (PhD in New Testament and Early Christianity, FTP; PhD in Hebrew Bible, KCL; DPhil in Systematic-Historical Theology, Oxford), as well as degrees in music.
