Thank you for your enquiry about getting married at St Albans Cathedral. We are delighted that you hope to be married in church. This information should help you find a way forward.

Residence

First check whether you live in the parish, this is the easiest route to getting married here; this applies to either bride or groom individually. The Abbey parish is small and surrounds the Cathedral itself. If you check on the following website you can see if your home address lies within our parish https://www.achurchnearyou.com/

Qualifying Connection

There are other ways that you can get married here if you or your family have a connection with the Cathedral. You can check here if there is a qualifying connection.

Electoral Roll

If neither residence or qualifying connection apply, then the other way you could get married here is as a member of the Electoral Roll. This is the membership list of the Cathedral congregation (not to be confused with the parliamentary electoral roll). Being on the Electoral Roll means you are a regular member of the worshipping community (for at least six months) and we have had a really good opportunity to get to know you.

Previous attendance at certain schools does not confer qualification. Please ensure you confirm your qualification for a wedding before booking a wedding reception as this can lead to disappointment. If you do not qualify for a wedding here at the Cathedral, we will be happy to put you in touch with your parish church.

Re-marriage after divorce or Services of Dedication following Civil Marriage

We are very happy to discuss these particular circumstances with you.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Wishing you every blessing for your future together
