At this time of his funeral, we join our prayers with those across the world giving thanks for the life and witness of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. 

God of eternity,
we give thanks for your servant Archbishop Desmond Tutu,
for his faithfulness to your gospel,
and his witness to your love
which calls us all to work for justice that brings peace.
We pray for all who mourn this day,
especially his family and the people of South Africa.
Through the life and legacy of this saint, Desmond,
inspire us all afresh to serve your world with courage.
Amen.
