On Sunday 1 October we were delighted to welcome a huge turnout for St Albans Cathedral’s first ever Pet Blessing service. Children and adults came along with their pets which varied from many dogs and quite a few cats to a tortoise, several stick insects and a snake!

It was a wonderful celebration of the special place animals play in our lives and the important part they have within God’s creation. Plans for next year's event are already underway.

Canon Will Gibbs, who organised the service commented, “We were delighted that the service was so well attended. As a Cathedral we are committed to the environment and this is yet another important and fun way of expressing this priority for us. We hope to see you next year!’
