Celebrating one of Alban Britain's first saint in a truly spectacular way
Saturday 22 June 2024 | 11am - 5pm

The heart of St Albans beats a little faster this year! For the first time, the Alban Pilgrimage procession unites with the vibrant Alban Festival on a single day. Witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of 12ft puppets weaving through the streets, retelling the story of St Alban – from whom the City gets its name. The procession begins at St Peter's Church at 11am, and its magnificent journey will take it down St Peter's Street and onto the High Street, culminating with an eye-popping spectacle at the West End of the Cathedral.

After the Pilgrimage procession, the fun continues from the Orchard all the way up to the High Street, as the St Albans Festival joins up for the first time with Pilgrimage! There will be a hive of activity on the Orchard with re-enactments, crafts, food and more, as well the usual charming shops, restaurants and market in town, all being bridged by a stage at the Clock Tower with live music.

Whether you're here for the pilgrimage procession's grandeur or simply seeking a day of joyful celebration, we invite you to discover the magic of Alban and our unique city.
