Climbing Everest: an Extraordinary Adventure by Rob Lucas
Thu, 27 April 2017
The Friends of the Abbey are very pleased to welcome Rob Lucas, a great supporter of the Cathedral, to talk about his experience of climbing Everest.
Rob had never climbed Everest before, but at 8am on 12th May 2016 he and Kenton Cool, his highly experienced guide, set foot on the summit of Everest. This was a particularly significant moment because the mountain had been closed to climbers by the Nepalese Government for two years since the avalanches and earthquakes of 2014 and 2015 had killed many of the sherpas and climbers operating from Base Camp.
Come and hear Rob's account of his incredible experience in the lovely Lady Chapel.
Ticket price includes a glass of wine on arrival.
