Heathlands School: A Display of Interpretative Artworks
Dates: 31st March - 11th April 2014
St Albans Cathedral works with a schools from all over the Diocese, and beyond. Last year it welcomed over 14,000 pupils to the Cathedral for a variety of activities, including RE, History, Maths and Art.
It has recently embarked on a new project with Heathlands, a St Albans based school for children with hearing impairment. As part of the project the pupils from Heathlands have attended the Cathedral to learn about its history, and to sketch various parts of the building. The children will then use this as inspiration to create a clay-based piece of art to reflect their thoughts, feelings and reactions to the Cathedral, some of which will be presented through artistic sign language. At the end of the project, the children’s artwork will then be displayed in the Cathedral.
