For centuries, pilgrims, monks and craftsmen have engraved their messages onto the stone walls of the cathedral, leaving behind beautiful messages and illustrations which give us a glimpse into their lives and the rich history of St Albans Cathedral.
Over the summer, the nature of this graffiti has been re-imagined by our Artist in Residence, Ella West, through the creation of a series of six wax tablets which have been transformed into a stunning art installation. Visitors, worshippers and members of the local community alike have etched their very own personal marks to create a collaborative artwork, and we now invite you to see these wonderful illustrations brought to life.
Drop into the cathedral to find your mark or simply to admire the work of others. Entry is free – donations gratefully received.
