Renowned Jazz Musicians lead Singing Festival at St Albans Cathedral
On Saturday 26th January the Cathedral will host the Big Sing Festival - a fun-filled celebration of music from around the world. Led by acclaimed musicians, Pete Letanka and Natalie Williams, this is a unique opportunity for all ages to get involved in making music in the stunning setting of St Albans Cathedral.
Pete Letanka’s compositions have been performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Opera House and Royal Festival Hall, while Natalie Williams is a singer-songwriter with seven critically acclaimed albums under her belt.
Children and adults can spend the day learning new songs with these renowned artists, in a variety of styles, from jazz to pop, gospel and soul. The day will culminate in the opportunity to perform to family and friends in the Cathedral, supported by a band of professional musicians. No prior experience is needed.
Pete Letanka said “We are busy creating a fun, inspiring and moving set of songs to sing. The band are really excited about coming to play so all that's left is for you to turn up and bring as many friends along as possible either to sing with us or be in the audience!”
The Canon Chancellor, Canon Kevin Walton said “The Big Sing is for anyone, of whatever experience or confidence. Please come along and help us raise the roof!”
