The Big Draw Comes to St Albans Cathedral

Wed, 21 October 2015

On Thursday 29th October, St Albans Cathedral will participate in the national Big Draw campaign.

From 10.30am until 3pm, budding artists of all ages are invited to explore the Cathedral and create their very own masterpieces inspired by the theme of ‘Every Drawing Tells a Story’. There is inspiration dotted all over the Cathedral, and there are many places in the building where you can find the story of Britain’s first saint, Alban.

The Cathedral’s Education Officer, Steve Clarke, said of the event: “The Cathedral is an old and beautiful building and this is a perfect opportunity to explore it by using art and craft, including collage and sketching.”

The fun children’s trail on offer will provide the opportunity for children to create their very own stained glass window, as well as a cartoon strip version of the story of Alban. There will also be a Really Big Draw, a giant piece of paper which anybody can add their drawing to.

This is a free event and paper and drawing equipment will be provided by the Cathedral. For more information please visit or see
