Hunt for Animals in St Albans Cathedral
On Sunday 1st February visitors to St Albans Cathedral can enjoy a free, special ‘Animal Safari’ tour to discover the weird and wonderful animals that are represented throughout the building.
Expect to spot pelicans, unicorns, peacocks and bears as the Cathedral’s expert Guide explains how animal imagery has been used to tell stories in the Cathedral down the ages.
The tour is for both adults and younger visitors and is the first in a series of ‘More to Explore’ tours for 2015.
Chair of the Guides, Julia Low, said, “Our More to Explore tours have been developed to give visitors a more detailed look at some of the unique aspects and rare treasures at the Cathedral. We hope to welcome lots of visitors on these tours which generally take place on the first Sunday of each month. Do bring your binoculars for the Animal Safari!”
The Animal Safari tour starts at 3pm on Sunday 1st February. Meet at the West End of the Cathedral.
