Education Centre Hosts First Christian Ethics Conference for Local Schools
On Thursday 19th March, St Albans Cathedral Education Centre hosted its first Christian Ethics Conference which welcomed around 70 GCSE students from across the county for a lively morning of workshops and debate.
The conference, sponsored by Hertfordshire County Council, provided an opportunity to discuss areas of Medical Ethics, Religion and Poverty, as well as Peace and Justice with a panel of expert speakers that included Reverend Sharon Grenham-Toze, Reverend Tim Bull, Paula Saunders and Reverend Jane Hatton.
The event was run in a similar format to the popular annual Sixth Form Conference which engages hundreds of older students in lively, challenging topical issues against a professional panel each year.
Commenting on the event, Assistant Education Officer Rachel Rimmer said, "With such a wealth of experience from our presenters we very much hope that the students have had plenty of opportunities to fully engage, reflect and gain insights into a range of issues."
Following its success, it is hoped that there will be a second Christian Ethics Conference in 2016.
