Bereavement Matters: Annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving
Tue, 11 November 2014
Bereavement Matters, the St Albans & District Bereavement Network, will hold its 7th annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at St Albans Cathedral on Sunday 23rd November at 3pm.
Held in association with the Cathedral’s Ecumenical Chaplaincy, the service is open to all and allows those who have experienced a bereavement to remember, give thanks and to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died. Before the service, at 2:30pm, doves will be released in front of the Cathedral’s West doors.
The Right Reverend John Gladwin, Chair of the St Albans & District Bereavement Network Board of Trustees, said “This very special event brings together those experiencing a loss, including families, friends and children, who can draw comfort from one another. This unique occasion will also be a joyous one as we remember with love and affection those who have died”.
The service will be conducted by Canon Richard Watson, Sub Dean at St Albans Cathedral and will feature the St Albans Abbey Girls Choir. Also in attendance will be J Stuart Lewis Esq - Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire - Fergus McMullen, and the Deputy Mayor of St Albans - Councillor Janet Churchard. Everyone is warmly invited to this non-ticketed event.
The new Book of Remembrance is currently being compiled and will be on display in the Ramryge Chapel at the Cathedral from Easter 2015. Anyone wishing to add the name of a loved one should contact Bereavement Matters on 01727 841 914 or use the reply slip available at the Cathedral now and on the day of the service.
