Today we pause with the Nation to remember the beginning of the first lockdown due to COVID-19. All are welcome to come into the cathedral and light a candle throughout the day to remember someone who has died or simply to mark this anniversary. In our services we will be using a special prayer to remember the loss that we have all felt, the people who have died or are seriously ill, and the sacrifices made on our behalf by so many key workers. You are welcome to use it too.

God of Love,
As we think about all that has changed this year,
may we know that you are always with us.
As we remember those who have died,
help us to trust they are at peace with you.
As we give thanks for the service and sacrifice of so many in our society,

give us a willingness to treat others with kindness and care,
and may hope shine out in every heart and home.

Amen

We will also be observing a one minute silence at 12noon as part of the National Day of Reflection.
