Poetry Evening: War and Peace
Fri, 8 February 2019
The marking of the Centenary since the Armistice of the First World War has seen much creative energy employed in both word and image as the huge consequences of being at war and establishing peace are explored. In this Poetry Evening, Jonathan Smith, the Archdeacon of St Albans, will be looking to poets who give insights into how humanity turns enmity into war, and the subsequent longing for and making of peace. We shall particularly be looking at some of the lesser known war poets as well as more established figures, together with those who looked to a post conflict future.
