The Cathedral is recruiting for a full time Events & Visitor Experience Manager. The Events and Visitor Experience Manager oversees the day-to-day floor operation of the Cathedral to deliver an outstanding visitor experience for all who use our building, supporting visitor and congregational growth, at the heart of the Cathedral’s mission. The role has strategic oversight of all planned event activity within the Cathedral and is the Cathedral lead for major events. The Events and Visitor Experience Manager will help the Cathedral identify new commercial opportunities and bring them to fruition to increase income stream, footfall and increase diversity of audiences.

The Events and Visitor Experience Manager is the line manager for a team of ‘front of house’ virgers who work with clergy and other members of staff to support the daily cathedral floor operation for all activity and events within the Cathedral. This role is also supported by and provides strategic direction to, the Administration Assistant for the Cathedral Diary and Events.

This is a new post established to create a more strategic oversight of all planned activity in the Cathedral Diary and on the Cathedral floor. The breadth of the role makes this position both interesting and challenging. The Cathedral is a seven day a week operation and the post holder will need to be flexible on hours worked according to the nature of events taking place.

This position reports to the Head of Marketing and Visitor Experience. This role would suit someone with previous experience of a managing a team in a different sector and who has an interest in working in the faith or heritage sector and has transferable skills to bring to this varied and interesting role.
