Celebrating its 90th year, the St Albans Symphony Orchestra commissioned James Francis Brown to compose an instrumental piece for the orchestra; Heartwood Wilding will receive its world premiere in the Cathedral, conducted by the composer, who took inspiration from the nearby Heartwood Forest Woodland Trust development. The orchestra will then accompany soloists and massed local choirs in Joseph Haydn’s large-scale oratorio The Creation.
