Before Remembrance Sunday, uncover the story of our West Window as a WW1 memorial and about the man who designed it.

Creator of the majestic West Window in the Abbey, and the enormous chapel of All Saints in London Colney, Comper was the last great Gothic Revival architect. He made beautiful things in different media – buildings, stained glass, fabrics.  His angels balanced on wheels; his Christs were young men with fair hair and sixpacks. Despised by modernists, feted by Betjeman, his work raises the question – what do we like to see in a Church?
