As the world readies itself for the great joy of Christmas celebrations and festivities in the coming days, there will be many of us for whom this will also be a time when we are acutely aware of our loved ones who have died; those we have celebrated Christmas in the past and who are no longer with us now.  We step away from the busyness of this time of year, to pause and to remember those we love but see no longer.

In this service of carols and prayers, we light candles and our Lights of Love in a tree outside in memory of those who have died as we seek God’s comfort and strength knowing that, in God, life is eternal, hope is greater than fear and that the light of God’s love will always overcome the shadows of death and grief.  The tree of lights will then be lit up each night through the Christmas period as a sign of those we are remembering this Christmas as a Cathedral community.

All are welcome to join us for this special service.
