Robert Voss CBE CStJ, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and Jo Kelly-Moore, Dean of St Albans, invite you to this very special service to celebrate the Commonwealth.

The service will take place in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester

The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 56 independent and equal countries. It is home to 2.5 billion people, and includes both advanced economies and developing countries. The new Commonwealth heralds from the London Declaration of April 1949 and this Commonwealth Service is an opportunity to recognise the 75th Anniversary of this family of nations. Commonwealth governments have agreed to share goals like development, democracy and peace. Common values and principles are expressed in the Commonwealth Charter.

At the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting in London, it was decided to extend The Year of Youth until the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which will be held in Apia, Samoa, in October 2024. This Commonwealth Service will equally seek to empower and provide a platform for young people, who will feature significantly in the event.

St Albans School Choir will be performing along with Tring Park School and others.

All attendees are asked to be seated by 1.30pm.
