The Cathedral is recruiting for a Diary and Events Assistant who works as part of the Cathedral Office team. The two main functions of this role are the overall co-ordination of entries onto the Cathedral diary which include routine bookings as well as special events and services, and co-ordinating the event planning for diary activities and events. This will involve working in partnership with people in our Cathedral community, across staff teams, clergy and with volunteers, as well as engaging with third parties and the general public.

The Diary and Events Assistant works closely with the manager leading on events, to explore potential for new venue hire opportunities and to ensure the planning for special events is thorough and that practical event arrangements are communicated to internal and external stakeholders as required. The Cathedral diary is very busy and populated with a wide range of activities, services and events throughout the year. This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, can establish effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and has good attention to detail. Reporting to the Office Manager, the role requires close working with colleagues, clergy, volunteers, external third parties and the general public. As part of the office team, the role also carries out some general office tasks.

There is scope to do this office-based role over 4 longer or 5 shorter working days Monday to Friday, depending on what working hours would suit the successful candidate.

The role is interesting and varied in terms of breadth and scope and would suit someone with previous administration experience looking for a new challenge in a busy, stimulating and friendly working environment. The role requires someone who is able to think creatively, and who enjoys enabling things to happen, often managing competing demands on our physical spaces, while also keeping a focus on quality and great customer service. An understanding of church life would be desirable but is not essential and full training will be provided on the specific administrative systems and processes.
