Be a part of something special - Volunteer at the Cathedral
Do you have a few hours to spare? Would you like to be a part of a busy, thriving community? Could you help us to welcome visitors and care for this ancient and special place?
At the Cathedral we have a huge team of committed and loyal volunteers, each playing a part in the day-to-day running of the building and offering a warm welcome to all who come here, seven days a week. Young and old, working and retired, skilled and just eager to help, our volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds and without them, the Cathedral simply could not function. There are hundreds of opportunities to be filled and we are always looking for enthusiastic new people.
For those interested in working with our visitors, we need Cathedral Guides and Welcomers, helpers for the café, shops and library and volunteers to man the Information Desk.
Our Flower Guild, Textile Group and legions of silver polishers, cleaners and gardeners all help keep the place beautiful and our musicians and bell-ringers fill the Abbey with glorious sound.
There are also opportunities in youth work or with our award-winning Education Centre. For more information, please call 01727 890212.
Behind the scenes, money-counters and admin assistants are busy supporting the Cathedral office and finance teams.
Whatever you feel inspired to do, there is full training and supervision and the Volunteers' Co-ordinator and Volunteers' Chaplain are available for additional support.
We value our volunteers highly and recognise their important place within our organisation. In turn, they give us their time and enthusiasm, while making new friends and enjoying the privilege of working in such a beautiful and inspiring place.
