This course delves into the riches of past Christian prayer, worship and reflections on life with God.

We shall consider the works of many members of that great cloud of witnesses – among them the Desert Fathers, Julian of Norwich, John of the Cross, Charles Wesley and recent Anglican thinkers – as we consider how their prose, art, music and poetry expressed their worship and invites others to share in their vision of the Christian life. We shall explore the reasons behind such variety in Christian spirituality and consider what we may learn theologically from it; in doing so, we hope to uncover pearls that may enrich our own lives of faith today.
