Date: Wednesday 12 July 2023

Time: 6.15pm - 8.00pm

Location: Abbey Gate House, Abbey Mill Lane, St Albans AL3 4HD

We are delighted that Bishop Alan has kindly agreed to open the gardens at Abbey Gate House to the Friends for an exclusive summer evening visit.

We will begin the evening at 6.15pm with a drink and welcome from the Bishop, and thereafter we will be free to wander at our leisure around over 2 acres of delightful gardens until 8.00pm – maps will be provided.

Abbey Gate House is a Grade II* listed 19th century building within the boundary walls of the pre-Reformation Benedictine monastery of St Albans, and the grounds are particularly fine with many interesting and differing areas. The Bishop is a keen gardener and the gardens are beautifully designed with a wide variety of plants and mature trees and plenty of seating.

Please note that there are steps to navigate, some of them steep, and the ground is uneven in places. Most of the garden is not accessible to wheelchair users.

Tickets for this event cost £10 per person.  Please apply before Monday 10 July.
