The Cathedral Guides aim to enhance visitors' experience of the Cathedral by providing information on its history, architecture and ministry.

Guiding in the Cathedral

The Cathedral has a team of trained volunteer Guides who welcome visitors, lead formal tours and are available to provide information informally about the building, furnishings, worship and activities taking place.

Free Guided Tours

Free guided tours are available daily for visitors at the following times:

11.30 Monday to Saturday

14.30 Sunday to Friday

14.00 Saturday

These tours provide an introduction to the history of the building, sight of the main items of interest and an explanation of the Cathedral's ministry both past and present. They start at the west door and typically take about an hour.

Free Highlights Tour

If your time is limited, why not come on one of our whistle-stop tours and explore the highlights of this great building.

Private group

Private group tours can be arranged to suit individual requirements, in terms of specialist interest and timing, subject to fitting in with the Cathedral's programme of worship and events.

Specialist tours are offered as follows:

Family Tours

During school holidays and half terms are available for children (who must be accompanied by their parents/guardians).

Christopher Trail

Activities for the younger visitors during school holidays: Held on the 4 Thursday mornings of August, including trails, stories and crafts. Children must be accompanied by parents/guardians.

More to Explore Tours

The "More to Explore" tours take place on the 1st Sunday of the month unless otherwise stated. Starting from the West End of the Cathedral at 3:00pm these special subject tours are free.
