Students Ask the Questions at St Albans Cathedral

On Thursday 24 November 2011 St Albans Cathedral Education Centre will host its annual Sixth Form Conference.

630 students from 21 schools will join together in the nave of the Cathedral for a morning of debate with a panel of high profile speakers. Award winning journalist Samira Ahmed will chair this unique event.

The format is based upon the BBC Programme 'Question Time' and allows students the opportunity to ask ethical, political and global questions of themselves and others.

The panel for this year's conference will comprise of: His Honour Judge Andrew Bright QC, Resident Judge St Albans Crown Court; The Reverend Dr Giles Fraser Canon Chancellor St Pauls Cathedral; Tobias Ellwood, Conservative MP for Bournemouth East and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary; Chris Bryant, Labour MP for Rhondda and a staunch critic of the Murdoch Empire involvement in phone hacking.

Annette Cranston, Education Officer at St Albans Cathedral, said, "I am extremely proud of the reputation that this event has gained as a rare opportunity for students to voice their opinions on current affairs. They speak eloquently and with a passion and maturity which is to be applauded and is always commended by our speakers."

The Sixth Form Conference starts at 9.30 and the debating continues till 12.30.
