A Big Venue for a Big Event

big-draw-logo.jpgSt Albans Cathedral will be hosting a giant drawing event for all ages on 27th October to celebrate the 2011 Big Draw Campaign.

Budding artists, young and old, are invited to explore the Cathedral and create their very own masterpieces inspired by the theme of this year’s Big Draw – Drawing Age. Teams of helpers will be on hand with suggestions, photographs, artefacts and materials to develop the theme.
Gail Thomas, Family Visits Officer, said, “We’re looking forward to welcoming children and adults for a fun and creative day.  St Albans Cathedral provides a wealth of inspiration for the Drawing Age.  You can look at the contrasting ages of the building and create something traditional, modern or futuristic.  Or you may prefer to find a quiet corner and draw what you see. Whatever you decide, we hope you have a great time.”

Launched as a one-day event in 2000, The Big Draw is now an annual month-long festival of over one thousand events across the UK. Every October, museums, galleries, heritage sites, libraries, schools and parks join in – inviting people of all ages to discover how drawing can connect them with their surroundings and the wider community.
The Big Draw at St Albans Cathedral starts at 10.30 and you can drop in any time until 15.00.  The event is free for all the family.
