St Albans Cathedral provides vital support to local charities

missiongiving2011Home to the largest congregation of any British Cathedral, St Albans Cathedral hosted its annual 'mission giving ceremony' on Sunday 8th May.

£42,000 was distributed to over 30 local charities thanks to the generosity of the St Albans Cathedral congregation which, despite continued economic uncertainty, continues to support the Cathedral and its mission.

Commenting on the mission giving ceremony, Marcus Flint, Chair of the Congregational Giving Team said: "It is such a pleasure to be able to financially support so many local charities that all do so much to help our local communities. Our thanks go to the Cathedral's congregation whose continued generosity makes this level of giving possible."

Beneficiaries of this year's mission giving include Earthworks, ReachOut Plus, St Albans Child Contact Centre, Hospice of St Francis and Up on Downs.
