Chapter House Project 2009

In January 2009, Dr. Josie Kane from the University of Hertfordshire embarked on a six month project in partnership with the Abbey to research the new chapter house.

Funded by the East of England Development Agency and a generous donation from Morton Neal, the project aimed to reflect upon the history of the chapter house and its role within the cathedral complex and parish at large.

In addition to these dedicated web pages, the project has several outcomes:

Snapshot project
  • A booklet about the history and design of the Chapter House (available from the Abbey bookshop).
  • The Snapshot Project, a week-long event involving regular users taking photographs of the building (June 2009).
  • An exhibition at the Abbey in September 2009, featuring a selection of the Snapshot Project photographs.
