The Cathedral and Abbey Church of Saint Alban
The award winning Education Centre at St Albans Cathedral brings all manner of subjects to life in original and surprising ways.
St Albans Cathedral Education Centre hosts a Sixth Form Conference in the Nave of the Cathedral every November. This free event is now well established and is a unique opportunity to enable students to debate with a platform of speakers across a diverse range of subjects. It is seen as making an invaluable contribution to the post 16 citizenship curriculum.
The format is based upon the BBC Programme 'Question Time' and allows students the opportunity to ask ethical, political and global questions of themselves and others in order to make value judgements.
Last years Sixth Form Conference was held on Thursday 24th November, and was a great succes! The panel comprised of: His Honour Judge Andrew Bright QC, Resident Judge St Albans Crown Court; The Reverend Dr Giles Fraser, Canon Chancellor at St. Pauls Cathedral; Tobias Ellwood, Conservative MP for Bournemouth East and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary; Chris Bryant, Labour MP for Rhondda; Sandy Walkington, Liberal Democrat Candidate for St Albans. Once again the event was chaired by the award winning journalist and broadcaster Samira Ahmed.
