Holy Matrimony

Many weddings take place at the Abbey each year. We are delighted to welcome couples on this great day.

There is a process of qualification for weddings at the Abbey. All information regarding qualification is available to download below. If you require further advice, please speak to the Sub Dean or Maggie York in the Cathedral Office.

Holy Baptism

As a parish church, we are delighted to welcome children and adults for baptism. Baptism is the sacrament for joining the church and incorporation into Christ.

Baptisms take place during the Parish Eucharist (9.30am on Sundays). In certain rare circumstances, and for pastoral reasons only, baptisms may take place at other times, with the permission of the Sub Dean. The dates for Baptism Sundays in 2012 are listed below.

Baptism families will be invited to a Baptism Meeting to meet each other and to learn more about this important life event. The member of the clergy who is baptising will also visit the family at home.
